چکیده

Reformatting information currently held in databases into HyperText Markup Language (HTML) pages suitable for the World-Wide Web (WWW) requires significant effort both in creating the pages initially and their subsequent maintenance. We avoid these costs by directly coupling a WWW server to the source data within a database using additional software we have developed. This software layer automatically generates the WWW interface to the database using meta-data from the catalogue. The resulting interface allows either direct entry of SQL queries or an intuitive graphical means of specifying queries. Query results are returned as dynamic HTML pages. Browsing of the database is made possible by creating dynamic HyperText links that are included automatically within the query results. These links are derived from referential integrity constraints defined in the meta-data.

HERA: Automatically Generating Hypermedia Front- Ends for Ad Hoc Data from Heterogeneous and Legacy Information Systems

The generation of hypermedia (or Web-based) presentations plays an important role in information management on the World Wide Web. In applications for Web modeling and querying, information extraction and integration, or Web site construction and restructuring the generation of hypermedia aspects for given data is essential. Specifically, the design of dynamic Web pages is an issue that needs m...

ActiveRaUL: Automatically Generated Web Interfaces for Creating RDF Data

The amount of automatically generated machine-readable data on the Web has significantly increased in recent years. This is in part due to the advent of Linked Data and its publishing tools that allowed the mapping of relational data to RDF. However, the amount of semantic Web data is still many orders of magnitude smaller than the World-Wide-Web, and this limits semantic Web applications. One ...

TRANS: Schema-Aware Mapping of OWL Ontologies into Relational Databases

An ontology is an explicit specification of shared conceptualization. The Web Ontology Language (OWL) is a family of knowledge representation languages for authoring ontologies, and is endorsed by the World Wide Web Consortium. The main operation on ontologies is to query them and to store them so as to answer queries efficiently. By mapping ontologies to relational databases, we can leverage t...
